Landscape for Resilience-Are You Ready for the Next Big Storm? Part 2

October 24, 2018 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

This program is offered as a two part program.  Attend one or both sessions.  Free to the public.  Pre-registration is preferred but not required.  Please go to www.waquoitbayreserve.org/event-registration.

The focus of this workshop is on practical tips that can be implemented before the next big storm hits Cape Cod. In addition to raising the level of comfort and safety for themselves, their own families, their homes and yards during a storm; citizens taking these actions will also serve to strengthen Cape Cod’s ability as a region to be self-reliant.

October 24th from 2:30pm – 4:00pm – “Wrangling Rainwater on the Homestead – and Other Landscape Choices for a Changing Climate.”
Kristin Andres, Director of Education and Outreach for the Association to Preserve Cape Cod

Kristin will cover rainwater as a valuable resource and practical ways of managing storm water on your own piece of Cape Cod. She will also cover rain gardens, asphalt alternatives and permeable applications with lessons learned. She’ll offer other eco-landscaping tips for a more resilient landscape including using native plants to withstand drought, and attracting pollinators.
