The SouthEastern Massachusetts Aquaculture Center (SEMAC) is a state funded regional center established to assist the aquaculture industry within southeastern Massachusetts. Modeled after the agrictultural experiment station concept, SEMAC is a collaborative effort between Barnstable County/Cape Cod Cooperative Extension, the SeaGrant Program at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, and the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources. SEMAC is directed by a Board of Director and staff that meets bimonthly to discuss present and future strategies to support the aquaculture industry within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Staff of the Center are Dr. William Walton, Diane Murphy, and William Burt-members of the Marine program of Cape Cod Cooperative Extension.

Mission Statement
The mission of the SouthEastern Massachusetts Aquaculture Center is to foster the sustainable developement of a private/public aquaculture industry within the southeastern region and throughoutthe Commonwealth of Massachusetts by way of a coordinated effort including education, research, technical and economic assistance, best management practices, and demonstration projects.
