The lone star tick first appeared in Barnstable in 2013. This September, hikers on Sandy Neck Beach reported receiving strange red bites. The culprit? Lone star tick larvae. In this interview, “Barnstable This Morning” host Sarah Colvin visits with Barnstable County Cooperative Extension Entomologist Larry Dapsis out on the Marsh Trail of Sandy Neck. Dapsis shares information about the lone star tick and deer tick, important information on how to protect yourself, and what to do if you are bitten by a tick.
