Mission
To establish, develop and carry out education programs in marine resource development, to assist with problems concerning coastal industries and the management of coastal resources, and to transfer technological innovations, educational and informational materials to public officials, educators, and marine users groups.

Research Projects

A number of research projects have been examined using the SEMAC sponsored Research Farm Network.  The network of research farms allows for testing of aquaculture methods in a number of different geographic areas using the same protocols to gain a better general idea of what methods are universally or locally better for production.  While there is always a lot of geographic variability and Southeastern Massachusetts, the results have been interesting.  The methods and results for each of the projects are available below.

Determine Effects of Density on Oyster Growth and Survival

Test Effects of Periwinkles on Oyster Growth and Survival

Growth and Survival of Quahogs Planted at Different Densities

Comparison of Surface Netting Methods on Quahog Growth and Survival
